The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Amb. Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, held bilateral talks with the Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki, during a meeting held in Arusha.
During the discussions, Dr Nchimbi reaffirmed Tanzania's commitment to continuing its support for the OACPS in advancing its reform agenda and enhancing the Organisation's effectiveness and value for its Member States.
He also commended the Secretary-General for his leadership in implementing institutional reforms, including efforts to strengthen integrity, promote self-reliance, and build a stronger and more resilient Organisation.
For his part, the OACPS Secretary-General outlined the Organisation's key priorities, including strengthening trade, deepening integration among Member States, and enhancing resilience to the impacts of climate change.
He further highlighted the Organisation's commitment to prioritising investment in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), particularly in digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data governance. In addition, he underscored the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation among developing countries, while promoting women's economic empowerment.
The meeting was also attended by Tanzania's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, H.E. Jestas Nyamanga, and the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms Ellen Maduhu.
