His Excellency Jestas Abuok Nyamangahas since 2019, held the position of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Head of Mission to the European Union. He is also the Head of Mission to the Organisation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and the Representative of the United Republic of Tanzania to the World Customs Organisation (WCO}
While in Brussels, Ambassador Nyamanga has been the Chairman of the OACPS Committee of Ambassadors (a committee that constitutes all 79 Ambassadors Based in Brussels from the 79 countries, which are members of the Organisation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States) from August 2020-Jan 2021). He has also been the Chairman of the SADC Ambassadors based in Brussels from Dec 2019 to August 2020 as well as the Vice Coordinator of the Eastern African Group of Ambassadors based in Brussels from January -August 2020. He is currently a core member to several OACPS Sub-Committees.
Ambassador Nyamangas’ career includes both multilateral and bilateral assignments. Prior to this position he served as the Director for the Department of Europe and Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the post he has held since April, 2018. He was also appointed in the position of Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since February 2014. In that capacity, he has served in the Department of Multilateral Cooperation, heading the International Development Cooperation affairs as well as at the Department of Regional Cooperation, heading the Great Lakes affairs.
Born in March 1972, Ambassador Nyamanga has also served as the Coordinator in the Office of the Chief Secretary and Head of Public Service in the President’s Office until June 2016. Before that he served as the Cabinet Assistant Secretary at the Cabinet Secretariat in the Office of the President, responsible for advising on Foreign, Defence and Security affairs.
As a career diplomat with over 20 years of experience in the professional of diplomacy, Ambassador Nyamanga has executed a number of duties in the field of bilateral and multilateral diplomacy including playing a leading role in the drafting of several Strategic Plans of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participating as part of Tanzania’s delegation to several negotiations talks for Peace process in the Comoros between 2003-2004. He also serviced as Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Head of Policy and Planning Sections at the Ministry and a member of the National Research Clearance Committee at the National Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), from 2000-2005.
Ambassador Nyamanga has served in Cairo, Egypt as the Deputy Head of Mission and In charge of Administration and Finance (the Head of Chancery) with oversight responsibility for political, economic and Commercial affairs. In this position, between 2006-2014 he also served in Israel, Libya, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon where the embassy was multiple accredited.
Ambassador Nyamanga holds a B.A (Hon.) Degree (International Relations and Public Administration) of the University of Dar es Salaam (1998). He earned an M.A. Degree in International Relations from the University of Dar es Salaam (2001). He was a Chevening Scholar at Oxford University, UK (2000). He also pursued the Diplomatic Professional Training at the Institute of External Relations in New Delhi, India (2003). He is a Feltham Award Holder from the Queen Elizabeth Institute, Oxford University. He also holds several certificates in the fields of Negotiations, Crisis Management, Economic Diplomacy Management, Leadership Development and Peacekeeping.
Ambassador Nyamanga’s hobbies are Reading, Farming, Traveling, Finding inspiration, Volunteering and Music. He speaks English and Swahili fluently and passively Arabic. He is married and blessed with 3 lovely Children.
